Elisa Byler

Elisa has been practicing in the healing arts for over 25 years. With a BFA in Modern Dance, her career started out in dance and theatre. She performed in several modern dance companies and then toured internationally with the New York Harlem Opera Ensemble.  Her love for the body, movement and art was then translated into what has now become her life’s work as a healing artist. Elisa began her studies in massage therapy and received her certification from International Health Systems in New York City in 1985.

Modalities Offered:

To deepen Elisa’s intuitive connection with the moving body, she continued her practice studying many different healing modalities. She studied Watsu, Aqua Alma, and Dolphin Dance aquatic bodywork on the Big Island of Hawaii and in Boulder, Colorado. For Elisa, working in the water creates a beautiful union between dance, movement, massage, and the healing properties of water.

Hawaiian healing arts constitute a great part of Elisa’s passion and training. Elisa studied Lomi Lomi on the island of Kauai, which is the healing massage practice of native healers of Hawaii. She also draws from the principles of Ho’oponopono –the ancient Hawaiian technique that helps to release resistance, remove blocks and improve energy flow. Ho’oponopono directly translated means “to make right”, pono means balance. So in the practice of ho’oponopono we are working to bring the mind, body and spirit into balance.

Other healing modalities that are used in her work are traditional Swedish-based massage, Shiatsu, Thai Yoga massage, Foot Reflexology, Reiki, Polarity Therapy, among others that can be drawn upon when needed. She has also trained as a Doula, a program designed to offer support to birthing women during labor and delivery.

Elisa spent over a decade of her life teaching dance and movement. She taught movement for students training in massage at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy and the Massage Therapy Institute of Missouri.

Elisa’s multilayered experience informs her bodywork and energy work practice. Her approach is now integrative, intuitive, and involves listening deeply to what every individual needs in each moment. Every session draws on her spontaneous creativity, tapping into a deep well of love, so that each person is met with unconditional loving presence. Elisa believes in the body’s natural ability and wisdom to heal itself: “I believe in the power of love and light, and any problems that we encounter are a result of being separated from this great truth.”
