Diane Mueller ND, LAc
Dr. Diane Mueller is a functional medicine practitioner, naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist. She received both her naturopathic medical degree as well as her acupuncture degree from National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
|Her interest in holistic health care began as a result of her childhood health issues. Dr. Diane’s health challenges began as a child and included severe chronic constipation, multiple gastrointestinal infections, as well as infections from Ebstein Barr virus and Lyme disease. The chronic fatigue, headaches, brain fog, sciatica and fibromyalgia that these diseases elicited are what initially drove her on a quest for education.
Dr. Diane turned the challenge that her health brought into motivation, which propelled her to obtain a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and a masters degree in acupuncture due to a strong a mission to help both herself and others.
With a natural love for learning and a deep curiosity, Dr. Diane has expanded her education and is completing her second doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in the summer of 2016. She has a certification in Applied Kinesiology as well as a certification from the Kalish Institute of Functional Medicine. She is also a certified qi gong teacher and has been practicing various forms of qi gong and meditation for well over a decade. In addition, she continues to enjoy courses in the studies of genetics, Lyme disease, mold toxicity, gastrointestinal illness, meditation and more.
Teaching is part of Dr. Diane’s mission. She is continually engaged in the community and actively gives public lectures as a way of empowering others to take a more active role in their health goals. In addition, Dr. Diane has taught at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the Nutritional Therapy Institute, in Denver, CO. In January 2015, she and her business partner created a certification program training other practitioners in Functional Medicine and Mindfulness practices. She continues to be a pioneer in the field, working to bring more awareness to the mind body connection in disease as well as to a root cause approach to healthcare.
Her personal experience deeply taught her the importance of identifying the root cause of illness. The challenge of her health journey illustrated to her that deep importance of addressing the mind and the body in relationship to health and disease. Dr. Diane feels strongly that we must work with any toxic thoughts, beliefs, and emotions in the psychology as well as working with the physical aspects of illness. Her unique treatment model combines the best of functional medicine, which is deeply rooted in research and lab testing, with the best of mindfulness techniques.
Many of Dr. Diane’s patients have similar struggles as she did such as severe symptoms, yet normal findings on traditional Western lab testing. Due to her person health history, she can meet her clients with empathy, understanding and deep listening, while maintaining the ability to see the scenario objectively.
